Daily care tips to encourage appetite

1. Unlimited fresh hay — offer dry, fragrant timothy hay and refresh it daily; faded aroma often lowers interest.

2. Rotate the batch or mix hays — flavour varies between harvests, so blending in a more aromatic hay improves palatability.

3. Powder topping — mix a little high-fibre grass powder with lukewarm water (below 40°C) into a paste and spread it over the hay; the natural herbal and fruity notes help encourage appetite.

4. Calm environment — keep the feeding area quiet, shaded and well ventilated (18–26°C).

5. Check the mouth — if you also see drooling or one-sided chewing, ask an exotic-pet vet to check the teeth.
