Do guinea pigs need teeth brushing? Dental care guide

1. No brushing required — never use toothbrushes or human/dog toothpaste on guinea pigs.

2. Continuously growing teeth — guinea pig incisors and molars grow throughout life; the best care is unlimited coarse timothy hay.

3. Natural chewing wear — grinding long-strand grass fibres naturally wears teeth to proper length and alignment.

4. Calcium support — formulated with calcium, which supports healthy teeth and bone development.

5. Warning signs — drooling (wet chin), difficulty chewing, or wanting food but not swallowing often indicate overgrown molars; see an exotic-pet veterinarian right away.
